文章使用分位数回归方法考察了1988~2002年间中国城镇工资结构的变迁、特别是其决定因素在整个工资分布区间上的变化。作者发现对教育的回报在增长,而对工作经验的回报在下降。2002年的数据表明,不断扩大的性别工资差距可能已不再上升。世纪之交的最大变化可能是中国经济悄然开始了由劳动密集型向知识技能密集型转变。
Using the quantile regression method, this paper examines the changes of urban wage structure in China from 1988 to 2002, especially the changes in the determinants of the wage distribution in China. The authors found that the return to education is growing, while the return on working experience is declining. Data for 2002 show that the widening gender wage gap may no longer rise. The biggest change at the turn of the century may be that China's economy quietly started its shift from labor-intensive to knowledge-intensive.
