据说近年报刊上的杂文,不怎么受读者欢迎。有统计说,其读者数仅在新诗之上,是“杂文时代”果真过去了呢?还是“杂文”赶不上“时代”了呢?学句时髦腔:“杂文怎么啦！” 我喜欢杂文,也写过些杂文,但近来不写了。为什么呢?一言以蔽之曰:写了没有用。写杂文总是想针砭时弊,结果却言者谆谆,听者藐藐,时弊依然如故,甚至变本加厉,写了等于没写,真是“可怜无补费精神”啦！“没用”的另一义,是写成了却发不出,即报刊不用,其原因或许是话说得过了头、出了格、离了谱、犯了忌,因此连写也成为无效劳动了。我于是宁可去写诗。写诗可以博得共鸣,也不防聊以自娱;它可以扬志士情怀和书生意气,也不妨发点牢骚,……总之不希望“立竿见影”的效果和“蔽绝风清”的威力。但话说回来,杂文我还是喜欢看的,可惜近来好
