Prototype immunoadhesin is an antibody-like molecule formed by the fusion of the Fc region of an immunoglobulin (Ig) with a ligand-binding region of a receptor, or an adhesion molecule. This article reviews some of the important structural and functional principles of immunoadhesins as a unique advantage of biological experimental tools and their therapeutic potential.
