Objective To study the effect of Songmeile injection on experimental fracture healing and explore its possible mechanism. METHODS: Forty Japanese rabbits were used to prepare the bilateral tibial bone defect model and randomly divided into control group and experimental group. The saline and Songmei injection were injected intravenously once a day for 14 days after injury. At 4 weeks, specimens were taken for histology, radiology, and biomechanics. Results The cartilage morphology and cartilage bone formation in the experimental group were active, and the number of chondrocytes was significantly increased (1.60×10 4 /cm 2 and 0.68×10 4 /cm 2 , respectively, P 0. 01). The callus torsion test was 31% higher than the control group, the stiffness increased 49%, and radiological healing was advanced (average 2.1 and 1.5 periods, respectively). Conclusion Early application of Songmeile injection can significantly promote fracture healing
