The isotopic age of lava and subvolcanic rocks in the Pils Peninsula, Livingston Island was determined by K-Ar dilution and 40Ar / 39Ar stage heating. New age data suggest that the volcanic activity in the area started at the end of the Late Jurassic and continued into the Late Cretaceous. There are three stages of volcanic activity. In addition to lava (146Ma, 137Ma), volcanic activity from the end of Jurassic to early Cretaceous also developed subvolcanic rocks such as gabbro intrusive (135Ma) and diabase dyke (129Ma). Andesite (114Ma) and quartz porphyry (94Ma) are the result of Early Cretaceous volcanic activity. The basalts with sedimentary interlayer in the east of the peninsula (71Ma) represent the Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary volcanic activity in the area.
