1985年颁布的《大学英语教学大纲》确定大学本科非英语专业《专业英语阅读》阶段的教学目的在于培养学生的专业英语阅读能力。但随着改革开放和加入世贸组织,我国学生的英语学习需求已发生了较大的变化。因此,1999年颁布的《大学英语教学大纲》(修订本)已将《专业英语阅读》改为《专业英语》(Subject-Based English简称SBE)。其教学目的是培养学生以专业内容为基础的英语听、说、读、写、译的综合能力。目前旧的专业英语课程设计,特别是教材设计急需改革。本文以ESP(English for Specific Purpose)理论为依据,通过大量的问卷调查和访谈,提出了一个以专业知识为教材内容,以培养综合技能为目标的教材编写模式。
The “Syllabus for College English” promulgated in 1985 has determined that the purpose of teaching “non-English major” undergraduates is to cultivate students’ professional English reading ability. However, with the reform and opening up and accession to the WTO, our students’ English learning needs have undergone major changes. Therefore, the “College English Teaching Syllabus” (revised version) promulgated in 1999 has changed “Professional English Reading” to “Professional English” (Subject-Based English referred to as SBE). The purpose of teaching is to cultivate students’ comprehensive abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating English based on professional content. At present, the design of the old professional English curriculum, especially the design of teaching materials, is in urgent need of reform. Based on ESP (English for Specific Purpose) theory, through a large number of questionnaires and interviews, this paper proposes a teaching material compilation mode that takes professional knowledge as teaching material and aims at cultivating comprehensive skills.
