Langston Hughes literary career and his psychological trauma are closely related. His experience of life trauma and his unique perceptions are related to his ethnic environment, growth experience and contacts. Through the traumatic experience of characters in his works, Hughes reveals the aesthetic pursuit of building a narrative of trauma. He was keenly aware of the long-term physical and psychological harm caused by trauma to individuals in society and the possible alienation of human relationships, reminding people to be vigilant against traumatic collective and unconscious resistance and violent resistance. Hughes’s trauma writing fulfilled his ideal of active intervention in society, politics and life, expressed his deep sympathy for the grassroots, and cleverly shifted and dissolved his painful traumatic memories.
