This article explores the relationship between masters and slaves in Homer’s Odyssey. For Hegel, the struggle between life and death is the driving force for the dialectical development of the relationship between master and slave. It not only shapes the master-slave relationship, but also ends the master-slave relationship. The result is the non-voluntary obedience of the servant to the master. Odyssey, however, implies that there is an unbreakable relationship between Odysseus and Omezius that not only did not fight life and death, but also formed a bond of love, voluntary obedience seems to be a spontaneous spontaneous behavior . Therefore, Omezius is not a stoic servant as defined by Hegel.
