The physico-chemical processes that occur when aramid-based composites are rubbed are investigated. Studies have shown that the surface diffusion of aramid and its matrix-based composites is accompanied by molecular-level reaction processes. In the aromatic polyamide matrix composite, the surface diffusion kinetics is related to the depolymerization of macromolecules on the surface of the resin.
