菲律宾总统埃斯特拉达表示,他认为菲律宾在2002年可以实现稻米自给,到2003年有望成为稻米出口国。 埃斯特拉达说,他做出这一乐观估计的原因,一是菲律宾去年农业丰收,二是他认为政府正在推行的农业现代化计划将进一步提高粮食产量。 农业现代化是菲律宾政府目前的工作重点之一。去年由于政府农业投入增加,再加上天气良好,农业产值增加了6.5％。目前政府正在推广杂交水稻种植技术,希望借此将水稻产量从现在的每公顷2.9吨提高到每公顷6至10吨。
Philippine President Estrada said he believes the Philippines can achieve rice self-sufficiency in 2002 and is expected to become a rice exporter by 2003. Estrada said he is optimistic about the reasons for this optimistic estimate. The first is the agricultural harvest in the Philippines last year. The second is that he believes the government’s ongoing agricultural modernization program will further increase grain output. Agricultural modernization is one of the priorities of the Philippine government. Last year, due to increased government investment in agriculture and good weather, agricultural output increased by 6.5%. The government is currently promoting hybrid rice cultivation techniques in the hope of boosting the rice production from the current 2.9 tonnes per hectare to 6 to 10 tonnes per hectare.
