虽然梅尔维尔的《抄写员巴特尔比》讲述的是19世纪一个社会畸人对华尔街极端的消极反抗,但这种极端他者对抗资本主义制度和美国神话的寓言式写作却契合了当今全球反恐时代有关他者政治的伦理争鸣。透过“后9·11”的视角,我们不仅能解析这篇短篇小说背后的西方文化批判,也能实践美国文学经典与当代政治的互读,并在这种重读中辨析“9·11文学”所昭示的伦理行动。
Although Melville’s Scribe Butterby tells the story of an extreme negative resistance on Wall Street by a social alien in the 19th century, the fabled writings of such extremists against the capitalist system and American mythology fit the current global anti-terrorism era Ethical debate about the politics of others.
