The study of the REE and Sm-Nd isotopic characteristics of the Tailian granulite in the eastern Tianshan Mountains shows that the protolith is a product of mantle differentiation between 1.8 and 2.0 billion years and is a calc-alkaline rock series with island arc characteristics.
