作为十九世纪经典小说的代表,《简·爱》自1847年问世以来就一直受到评论界的广泛关注,相关的研究也层出不穷。近年来,越来越多的评论家从女性主义角度来解读这部小说,把重点放到分析简·爱的性格和经历上,并高度赞扬女主人公的独立性和顽强的斗志。然后,他们当中很少有人结合小说独特的哥特背景来进行分析。本文依据迪亚娜·朗·赫费勒的女性哥特主义理论,通过对《简·爱》中的环境氛围和梦幻意象所体现出的黑暗、堕落、恐怖、迷信、和人性激情的女性哥特艺术手法的深入剖析,从女性哥特主义这一角度深入理解作品。
As a representative of classic nineteenth-century novels, “Jane Eyre” has been widely concerned by the critics since its publication in 1847, and relevant research is also emerging in an endless stream. In recent years, more and more critics have interpreted this novel from the perspective of feminism, focusing on the analysis of Jane Eyre’s character and experience, and highly praised the heroine’s independence and indomitable fighting spirit. Few of them then analyzed the unique Gothic background of the novel. Based on the female Gothic doctrine of Diana Lang Heffler and through the analysis of the dark, degraded, horrible, superstitious, and human passion embodied in the environmental atmosphere and fantasy image in Jane Eyre, In-depth analysis of the art practices, from the perspective of female Gothic understanding of the work.
