Recently, a test of increasing water production by hydraulic fracturing was carried out in two horticultural wells drilled in crystalline rocks at a horticultural field at the University of New Hampshire in the United States. The depths of the two wells are different: one at 479 feet (146 meters - editor’s note the same below) and the other at 300 feet (91.44 meters). The deeper one hit the granite; the lighter one hit the lamellar metamorphic rocks. The deeper one penetrates into the bedrock; the lighter one still has 55 feet (16.76 meters) of superficial material above bedrock, mostly glacial silt and fine sand. After the two well-shot wells were carried out at different flow rates and different time of the pumping test, the longest time of 8 hours. The 479-foot (146-meter) well discharges 4 gallons per minute (15.14 liters) and the 300-foot well discharges 3.5 gallons (13.25 liters) per minute.
