According to the March 1987 issue of “Sea Defense” magazine, “Pluto” radars have been designed to effectively address the detection of very low altitude air targets in hostile and destructive combat environments. This combat environment includes low-penetration penetration below radar coverage, large target density, electronic interference including chaff, anti-radiation missile threats and maneuvering targets. The Pluto of the State of Serbia is a new type of bimodal radar intended for use as a space-filling radar in ground-based air defense systems or as a search radar for monitoring the activities of surface ships in off-shore waters. A radar and secondary radar (IFI) are integrated to detect and identify targets at sea or at sea. Pluto is a mobile radar that consists of a masking device section, an antenna section, and a generator section.
