Indonesia has basically agreed to increase its energy exports to Taiwan, including crude oil, liquefied natural gas and coal. In return, Taiwan will participate in joint oil exploration in Sumatra and help Indonesia build a refinery and hydroelectric power plant. At present, the import timetable has not yet been formulated, but Taiwan’s crude oil imported from Indonesia is likely to increase from the current 5-6 million barrels / day to 200,000 barrels / day. Although increasing energy imports from Indonesia, Taiwan will by no means cut its imports from other countries. Taiwan’s annual import of liquefied natural gas may increase another 750,000 tons from the current level of about 2.5 million tons and increase the annual import of coal by 450,000 tons from the current 450,000 tons. The demand for energy and other resources in Taiwan’s rapidly growing economy is on the rise. Indonesia is longing for investment, today
