I. INTRODUCTION The test instruments developed by Japan for studying the dynamic nature of soil are mostly shear instruments based on triaxial compression instruments. The dynamic shearing device applies dynamic pressure while applying static pressure to the test piece, and can be roughly classified into two types according to the performance of the dynamic pressure generating mechanism. One is dynamic pressure in which regular waves such as rectangular waves, triangular waves, sawtooth waves, and sine waves occur, and the other type is dynamic pressure in which arbitrary waveforms other than these regular waveforms occur. In addition to this type of shearing instrument, shaking table tests and cylindrical resonance tests are also used to study the dynamic properties of soils.
