千百年来,阿拉伯的游牧民族——贝都因人顶着酷暑烈日,冒着沙漠风暴,将他们的骆驼带向远处山谷的绿洲。伴着星星点点分布的帐篷,袅袅的炊烟,还有给沙漠牧民带来喜悦和希望的驼铃声,这一切几乎构成了人们印象中的阿拉伯的沙漠景象。但在今日因石油而致富的经济条件下,这幅人与牲畜处于旷野的景象,已渐渐消失了,在我生活多年的科威特情况便是如此。
For thousands of years, the Arab nomads - the Bedouins - have been raging in the hot sun and stormy deserts, taking their camels to the oasis in the distant valley. The tents, curl of smoke, and the camel ringtones that brought joy and hope to the desert herders were all pretty much the impression of the Arab desert. However, in today’s oil-rich economy, the picture of this man and livestock in the wilderness has faded away, as has been the case in Kuwait, where I have lived for many years.
