Friedrich W. Taylor (1856-1915) was born in a family of lawyers and passed the Harvard Admission Test in 1875 but was unable to read because of poor eyesight, became an apprentice to a water company and then headed a steel company Post. In 1893 he began his career as a consultant engineer (the predecessor of the management consultant). He has worked on many books for many years, such as “piecework paychecks,” “factory management,” “metal cutting technology.” “The Principles of Scientific Management,” and “Testimonies in the U.S. Congress.” As the founder of scientific management, is the patron saint of mass production: advocate of measurement and control theory; is the greatest management scholar, Taylor died of pneumonia in 1915.
