在非黑钙土带,玉米是主要的青贮作物,但此地的夏季温度偏低,导致产量明显下降。为了确保收成,只有玉米与向日葵混播。它能改善温度的不足和从播种到花期有效积温为1450—1800℃情况下很好地生长。混播作物的干物质与粗蛋白质产量比单播玉米高20—50%。在青向日葵中含有很多脂肪、胡萝卜素和钙,另一方面由于青玉米含糖量很高,从而改善了向日葵的青贮性和适口性。然而关于玉米与向日葵混播的农业技术研究得还不够完善,其中包括利用化学方法除草问题未获解决。
