Objective To investigate the clinical effects of different surgical methods in the treatment of breast cancer. Methods Forty patients with breast cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2006 to January 2011 were randomly divided into observation group (20 cases) and control group (20 cases). The control group was treated by conventional mastectomy and the observation group Pectoralis major, pectoralis minor modified radical mastectomy, the two groups were observed after treatment. Results The two groups of patients were successfully completed the operation, followed up for 1 to 2 years, no local recurrence or distant metastasis, no subcutaneous effusion, subcutaneous hemorrhage and flap necrosis. The average operation time and intraoperative blood loss in the observation group were less than those in the control group, with significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). Conclusions The modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer with pectoralis major and pectoralis minor muscles is less invasive and the quality of life of patients is improved.
