Introduced how the management of geotechnical problems had a significant impact on the planning, design and construction of large-scale infrastructure projects. The need to study the continuity of geotechnical mechanics in place of discrete elements such as on-site surveys, instrumentation and on-site monitoring has been emphasized throughout the life of the project. Encourage the adoption of contractual formats that promote risk sharing and a more flexible approach during construction and design to assess the uncertainty associated with foundation conditions. By citing accumulated experience and other typical examples, emphasis is also placed on accumulating important lessons for future projects from observations, interpretation of construction data and documentation.
