Objective To investigate the intervention of carvedilol on vascular endothelial function in patients with essential hypertension. Methods The changes of brachial artery blood flow and internal diameter before and after carvedilol treatment were measured by high frequency vascular ultrasound. According to the left ventricular geometric parameters, the treatment group was divided into three groups: the left ventricular hypertrophy group (group A) And no left ventricular hypertrophy group (B group), analysis of its variation. Results The endothelium-dependent vasodilation and endothelium-independent vasodilation were significantly improved in the carvedilol group (P <0.05). The changes in the hypertensive group with left ventricular hypertrophy were more significant than those in the control group (P <0.05). The maximum blood flow in endothelium-dependent vascular endothelial cells was significantly higher than that before treatment (P <0.05). The basal diameter of brachial artery was not significantly different from that before treatment (P > 0 0 5). Conclusion Carvedilol can improve endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent relaxation of the brachial artery in hypertensive patients and reduce the damage of endothelial function.
