《山东区域文化通览》是在山东省政协领导下,省、市政协合作,组织全省300余名学者历时三年编纂完成的,是改革开放30多年来山东省政协组织的规模最大、参与人员最多、学术力量最强的重大文化建设工程。全书以山东省各市区域文化研究为主线,纵贯五千年,涵盖历史、文化、社会、军事、政治、经济等多个方面的内容,共分18卷,其中总览1卷,17市每市1卷,共约1200万字,精美珍贵的图片1000余幅。
