Shapiro’s English translation is by far the only English translation. The case study shows that Shapiro uses clever translation strategies and translation techniques to achieve the greatest degree of equality with the original content, emotional components and aesthetic effects. The author believes that Shapiro’s translation exemplifies the art of translation that faithfully tells the story of China and skillfully adapts to translating skills, which is of great value to the construction of a discourse system that accommodates both Chinese and foreign languages.
