On December 25, 1991, the Soviet Union, the largest socialist country in the world, collapsed. The original 15 republics became 15 separate countries. From the founding of the Soviet Union to the disintegration, the Soviet Union became one of the largest political events in the 20th century. One can not but ask: How could a communist Communist Party lead a socialist country that has been in power for more than 70 years now fall through? What role did the mass media of the Soviet Union play in the process of its regime change? What deserves special study is that after Yeltsin took power, What kind of changes have taken place in the Russian media? How has the control of the news media evolved? This is a question that the article focuses on.
