On November 26, 2003, with the official retirement of the “Concorde” supersonic airliner, the supersonic commercial travel fell silent. Since then, many research teams have been exploring the layout of the next generation of supersonic jet aircraft. In particular, NASA has been continuously researching and testing various techniques for reducing sonic boom, but it is confined to the conventional monoplane platform. However, the concept of a supersonic biplane that MIT researchers are currently studying is likely to solve many of the problems that lead to high fuel costs for “Concord” passenger aircraft, huge explosions caused by sound explosions.
