现在大家多喜欢通过微信联系，而打电话的机会比以前少了很多。但是，我们还是有必要掌握如何用英文打电话，总有一天你会用得上。
打电话方
1. 首先我们需要说明要找的人，并说清自己是谁。
I’d like to speak to John.我找约翰。
Is John in？约翰在吗？
Hello！ This is Emma calling for John.
你好，我是艾玛，我找约翰。
May I speak to John？
我可以找约翰聊聊吗？
Is John available？请问约翰有空吗？
2.如果我们要找的人暂时不在，而且事情并不紧急。
Can I leave a message？
我可以留个话吗？
Will you please tell him to call me back later？你可以让他待会儿给我回个电话吗？
When will he be free？
他什么时候有空？
3.如果我们要找的人暂时不在，且有急事。
It’s urgent.Could I have his mobile phone number？
我有急事，可以给我他的手机号码吗？
接电话方
1.接通后可以这样回应：
This is he. 我就是。（女的要用“This is she.”）
Hello！ This is Emma speaking.
你好！我是艾玛。
Speaking. 我就是。
2.询问对方是谁，你可以如下说。
May I have your name please？
Who’s that speaking？
3.接通了他人的电话，而他人不在身边。
Sorry，he isn’t in. 抱歉，他现在不在这。
He’s not available right now.Can I take a message for you？
他现在不在这，需要我帮你捎个口信吗？
4.接通了他人的电话，他人在身边。
Can I put you on hold？
你可以稍等一下吗？
Hold on for a moment.请等一会儿。
5.对方说话听不清楚时，希望对方重复。
Say again， please？再说一次好吗？
Can you repeat again， please？
能不能请你再重复一次？
Pardon？请再说一次。
6.打电话的人问他要找的人何时回来。
In an hour.一个小时后吧。
I’m sorry. I don’t know.
抱歉，我不知道。
7.对方想要留言。
Of course. Hold on for just a second so I can grab a pen and paper.
当然，稍等一下，我去拿纸和笔。
8.对方打错电话。
Sorry，you have the wrong number.
抱歉，你打错电话了。
Sorry，I’m afraid you’ve got the wrong number. 抱歉，恐怕你打错电话了。

A：Hello. Do you like to watch football game tomorrow afternoon？
嗨，你想看明天下午的足球比赛吗？
B：That is a wonderful idea.But I have to help my mother to buy some food.I am afraid it might cost me quite a long time.

A：Well.I think I can give you a hand if you want. In that case，you can come with me.
