《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》明确指出英语专业人才的培养目标是要培养“具有扎实基本功、宽广的知识面、一定的相关专业知识、较强的能力和较高的素质”的人才,但在实际教学中笔者发现很多英语专业学生的知识面非常狭窄,尤其是对与英语学习密切相关的人文知识了解很少,即便是那些英语基础比较好的学生,知识面也不够宽广,这严重影响了学生英语能力的发展和文化素质的提高,使得高校英语专业人才的培养目标难以实现。然而,宽广的知识面在很大程度上与广泛阅读是分不开的,学生知识面狭窄主要源于不喜欢阅读,阅读量少,阅读面狭小,归根结底就是阅读兴趣没有养成。所以,本文从英语专业学生阅读兴趣不高的原因以及如何帮助英语专业学生提高英语阅读兴趣的进行阐述。
The English Syllabus for English Majors clearly states that the training goal of English majors is to cultivate talents with solid basic skills, broad knowledge, certain relevant professional knowledge, strong abilities and higher qualities , But in actual teaching, I found that many English majors have a very limited knowledge of the humanities, especially those who are closely related to English learning. Even those students who have good English backgrounds do not have a wide range of knowledge. Seriously affected the development of students’ English proficiency and the improvement of their cultural quality, making it difficult to achieve the goal of college English majors. However, a wide range of knowledge is largely inseparable from extensive reading. Students’ narrow knowledge mainly stems from disliking reading, reading less and readings are narrower. In the final analysis, reading interest is not developed. Therefore, this article explains why English majors are not interested in reading and how to help English majors to improve their reading interest in English.
