An all-fiber laser suitable for distributed fiber sensing is reported. The laser is based on the main oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) technology, the seed light source is a semiconductor laser and the amplifier is an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. A laser output with independently adjustable repetition rate and pulse width was achieved with a central wavelength of 1550 nm, a 3 dB bandwidth of less than 0.2 nm and a peak power of 1.1 kW.
