龙脑作为一种来自南洋的异域香料,原产地主要集中在苏门答腊群岛、马来半岛、爪哇和婆罗洲等地区。唐宋两代中外交往繁盛,龙脑也大量输入中国,但因其价值高昂,多为达官显贵所享用,不仅可作香料熏染,也可作药用,亦有入食、入茶、入酒等多种应用的记录。本文尝试对龙脑与唐宋社会生活关系作多角度考辨,探求龙脑在唐宋两代入华传播的具体状况,以期窥得龙脑作为中外文化交流之物质媒介于一斑。
