In the Manderson field in Wyoming, crude oil is produced mainly from a complex set of fractures that have excellent lateral connectivity. In order to produce better, as much as possible, the characteristics of the fractures within the reservoir, especially among the wells, should be understood. This article discusses how to determine the strike and density of fractures near wells and wells using the 3D amplitude of the seismic data as a function of offset and azimuth variation (AVAZ). The results of the study indicate that, in addition to being better at determining fracture orientation and density, this method can provide important information about the fracture between wells compared to other methods.
