Chinese and foreign guests gathered at the Peace Palace of the CPAFFC on February 18 for the China-EU 2011 Chinese New Year Party, jointly hosted by the Department of European and Asian Affairs of the CPAFFC, the China-EU Association (CEUA) and the Construction Committee of China-EU Forum (CCCEUF).
They enjoyed magic shows and participated in activities such as games, drawing lots and making glutinous rice dumplings. In a warm and joyous atmosphere, everyone reminisced about friendship and looked forward to the future amid the happiness of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Among those present were He Luli, former Vice Chairperson of NPC Standing Committee and Honorary President of CEUA; Chen Haosu and Li Jianping, President and Vice President of the CPAFFC and the CEUA; and leading members of the CPAFFC, CEUA, CCCEUF, China-Russia Friendship Association, China-Romania Friendship Association, and diplomatic envoys and their families from 22 European and Central Asian countries including the Delegation of the European Union to China.
In his speech, President Chen Haosu said 2010 had been a very fruitful one for the CPAFFC in terms of effective cooperation with European and Central Asian countries. The CPAFFC together with related embassies had hosted several important receptions, such as those to mark the 60th anniversary of China establishing diplomatic relations with Switzerland, 40th anniversary with Italy, 35th with the European Union, 15th with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through these activities, the CPAFFC had further enhanced relations with European embassies in China, as well as mutual cooperation with various European countries. In 2011, the CPAFFC, the CEUA and the CCCEUF will jointly host “The First China-Europe People-to-People Friendship Dialogue” to promote mutual understanding and enhance friendship, as well as people-to-people exchanges, in an effort to advance the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.
Wang Yonghe, member of CCCEUF and Executive Director of the Planning and Management Committee of China-EU Forum, also delivered a speech.
