灵猫香为哺乳纲灵猫科动物大灵猫和小灵猫之雌雄体的肛门与外生殖器间,外分泌腺(香腺囊)的油状分泌物。此分泌物气味似麝香,故药材名称为灵猫香。我们在大别山南麓采到了灵猫香的药材标本。在丘陵灌丛之近农田处多有分布。这两种动物的主要别名有麝香猫、灵狸香、九节狸等。属杂食动物,除捕食鼠类、蛙类、蛇、虾、昆虫外, The civet cat is the oily secretion between the anus and the external genital organs and the exocrine glands (scent gland capsules) of the male and female of the big cat and the small civet of the breast feeding cats.
