Bone marrow transplantation can save the lives of thousands of people, but patients are vulnerable to severe viral infections in the coming months until their new immune system comes into effect. Now scientists at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital have found ways to provide protection during this high-risk period by injecting a specially engineered T cell that can fight up to five viruses simultaneously.
