时间生物学是研究生物节律现象及其应用的新兴学科。生物节律是指生物系统的重复过程,即以周期性为特征,以一定时间间隔不断重复的生命现象,是大多数生物的基本特征,是机体进化的结果。它在机体适应环境变化、维持内环境稳定等方面起了重要的作用。有研究显示,人类某些行为和一些生理生化指标均存在明显的周期节律性,其中,心血管系统功能(包括心率、血压)的昼夜节律现象已得到了证实。目前,随着相关研究的不断深入,时间生物学已广泛应用于医学领域,择时治疗已成为治疗临床疾病的主要手段,而依据生物节律进行择时运动的相关研究及应用也将成为又一重要的研究方向和时间生物学的研究内容之一。
