Introduction The use of cutting tool wear coatings has been popular for nearly two decades. Initially, the use of a gold-colored titanium nitride (TiN) coating on high-speed steel tools broadened the range of tools used, allowing for high machining speeds. When inlaid carbide cutting tools to achieve its maximum performance, the surface coating can once again greatly increase the scope of use of this tool, while significantly improving the service life of carbide cutting tools and parts surface finish, and reduce the cost of the product. The most common process for wear-resistant carbide tool coating is chemical vapor deposition (CVD). In recent years, other processes such as cathode sputtering and ion implantation have been under test and some progress has been made. The choice of cutting tool coating treatment depends on several factors. The ideal approach is to find the best combination of substrate material and coating used. Carbide to be coated
