Do dogs know the words, too？
Little John did not like the barking dogs.
“It’s all right.” said his father, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t you know the words: Barking dogs don’t bite?”
“Ah, yes,” little John answered, “I know, but do dogs know the words, too?”
狗也知道这句话吗？
小约翰非常不喜欢狗汪汪叫的样子。
“没关系。”爸爸说，“不用害怕。你难道不知道那句话：‘汪汪叫的狗不咬人’吗”?
“啊，是的，”小约翰答道，“我当然知道，可是狗也知道这句话吗？”
Because It’s Empty
Little Jane went home with a stomachache.
“Come on, eat some food,” Mom said. “Your stomach’s hurting because it’s empty. It’ll be all right if you have something in it.”
An hour later, Dad came home with a headache.
“That’s because it’s empty,” said little Jane. “You’d be all right if you had something in it.”
