[Objective]To compare the limit detection methods of ginkgoic acid in the extracts from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba L. by Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010 edition) and European Pharmacopoeia (EP7. 2) ; and to analyze and evaluate the preparation methods, chromatographic conditions and calculation methods of the two samples. [Methods]10 batches of the extracts from G. biloba leaves were prepared into tested substances by the two standards. Crossover trial was carried out; and the content of ginkgoic acid (GA) was calculated. [Results]By using the same detection and calculation method,GA content in the tested solution by EP7. 2 method was 5. 62 times of that by Ch. P2010 method. By using the same preparation method,GA content in the tested solution by Ch. P2010 standard was 1. 43 times of that by EP7. 2 standard. [Conclusions]The detection results of the two standards had poor regularities; each standard had their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore,it was necessary to combine the advantages of the two to establish an accurate and reliable limit detection method for GA.
