US AT & T Bell Labs using mode-locked laser as the light source to 2.4Gbit / s rate of optical soliton transmission experiment proved that the transoceanic distance (12000km). The experimental line consists of a dispersion-shifted fiber loop of 25 km in length and an erbium-doped fiber amplifier that is directly pumped. The increase of effective pulse width and measuring distance is consistent with the theoretical prediction. Experimental certificate
