The late 1970s、1980s saw the rise of descriptive approach that has its origin in comparative literature and Russian Formalism.Polysystem theory fed into developments in descriptive translation studies,which aims at identifying norms and laws of translation.Toury proposes a methodology for DTS as a non-prescriptive means of understanding the“norms”at work in the translation process.This paper will define the systematical study of DTS sketching major academic achievements of above-mentioned scholars for the development of DTS and meanwhile further discuss some related research points in question.
