The plasma protein C (PC) activity, antithrombin Ⅲ (ATⅢ) antigen and activity and anti-von Willebrand factor (vWF) were measured in 34 patients with diabetes mellitus. Observed. PC activity and vWF content in diabetic patients were higher than those in control group. PC activity in patients with microvascular disease was higher than that in non-accompanied patients. ATⅢ antigen and activity were found in the latter. There was no significant difference between the former and the control group. PC activity was positively correlated with vWF and serum cholesterol (r = 0.5579, 0.6712), and negatively correlated with ATⅢ activity (r = -0.5394). PC activity and vWF content decreased after treatment, AT Ⅲ antigen and activity no significant change. Tip of diabetic patients with impaired plasma anticoagulant activity, and microvascular disease and severity of illness related.
