As a means of transforming China’s society, the revolution was especially revered by radical intellectuals. This kind of “revolutionary worship” rejects all gradual improvements in constitutional activities and illusions that China, in one fell swoop, becomes an American-style democratic republic, but in fact it is a far cry from the democratic process in Chinese society. In the early years of the Republic, the tyranny of the tyrannical forces led revolutionary advocate Sun Yat-sen to return to the old road of gradual improvement from the worship revolution.
