魏晋时期,中国山水画进入了自觉时代,开始从无名的工匠制作发展为文人的积极创作;从实用、依附、宣教的附属地位发展为独立的审美对象;此外,魏晋时期山水画的自觉更突出地体现在山水画理论的出现。魏晋时期,中国山水画得以发生,其中不免有中国山水画技法上的历史积淀,更深层的动因还是老庄生命美学思想的催生与点燃。老庄生命美学催生魏晋士人对自身生命美的发现和山水美的发现;老庄生命美学点燃魏晋山水画生命意识的自觉追求。
