我这次在会上宣读论文的题目是《翻译出版学初探》,其中讲到翻译作品能不能删节。我的看法是,从翻译出版学的角度出发,在一定条件下,删节作为编辑的一种手段,不可废用,也不可滥用,关键在于掌握一个“度”字。在我发言之后的回答提问中,与会人就这个问题展开了比较热烈的讨论。一种观点认为,译者和编者无权对原著作任何删节,否则便是侵犯了原作者的版权,另一种观点认为要区别对待,像联合国文件、有定论的世界名著自然不能删节,但对某些当代 The topic of my thesis presentation at the conference was “A Preliminary Probe into Translation and Publishing,” in which I talked about whether or not translated works can be abridged. One view is that translators and editors have no right to make any omissions on the original, otherwise they would infringe on the original author’s copyright. Another view is that to treat differently, such as the UN document, there is no doubt that world famous authors with definite conclusions can not be abridged. However, For some contemporary
