钟嵘的《诗品.序》表现了他鲜明的文学观,体现了文学发生论与审美批评观的熔铸。关于诗歌的起源,钟嵘主张“物源说”;关于五言诗的发展,他注意到了社会生活与文学的源流盛衰关系;关于诗歌理论与批评,他注重“诗歌美”的标准,即谈玄说理、讲究声病、平庸乏味、无病呻吟的诗歌便是劣品,才高气奇、情真味浓、事景情一体、文与质俱优的诗歌堪称佳作,这样的佳作才具有“美”的特质、“雅”的韵味,才有存在和流传的价值。
