THE latest data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CA_AM) show thatin 2010 China sold more than 18 million motor vehicles, breaking the world record held bythe United States and becoming a major auto production and sales power in the world. Whatis FOTON’s status in China? Data, also from CAAM, show that the sales volume of FOTON in2010 hit 680,000 autos, after breaking the 600,000 barrier in 2009. The company has earned the titIeof "China’s No.1 Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer" for seven consecutive years.
FOTON ranks first in the sales volume of commercial vehicles not just in China but all over theworld.
However, FOTON is not satisfied with past achievements. Its target is not only to become the No.1commercial vehicle seller in the world, but also the most powerful commercial vehicle manufacturerworldwide.
FOTON has drawn up a development plan for 2011 to 2015: It will undertake eight projects, including building a global innovation center, a digitalized factory, for GTL heavy-duty trucks, a multi-function vehicle factory, a GDI gasoline engine factory and a Euro V bus factory. In 2011, investment in theeight projects will exceed RMB 7 billion. By 2015, the total investment will reach RMB 12 billion, andthe domestic production capacity of complete vehicles will reach one million autos. It is estimated thatby 2015 FOTON will be a leading world commercial auto manufacturer.
To become a world-class auto enterprise, it is important to have a visionary strategy based on globalbusiness. FOTON will build its first overseas factory in 2012-in India. By 2015, five overseas factorieswill be built in India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia respectively. The annual sales are expectedto surpass 1.8 million autos and businessrevenue will reach RMB 170 billion.
The brand value of FOTON has reachedRMB 33.971 billion, ranking it 34th on theList of 5oo Most Valuable Brands in China.According to the survey on which the list isbased, FOTON has achieved a popularityrating of 93.6 percent, and an image reputation of 26.9 percent. This means that FOTON is among the top three brands in theauto industry and ranks first in commercialvehicles.
