在现行桥梁教材和桥梁设计手册中,都明确指出,计算切线式钢板支座的垫厚度时,要考虑由于主梁伸缩使活动支座上下垫板互相错位后的受力影响。如公路设计手册《桥梁》中指出:“顶板(上垫板)计算确定顶板尺寸时,要计及活动支座因温度变化产生的位移影响”;现行大学教材《桥梁工程》(上册)也阐明:
