1937年12月,日本侵略军在南京进行大屠杀之际,正在那里工作的德国商人约翰·拉贝先生,被推选为“南京国际安全区委员会”主席,他冒着生命危险,保护了20多万中国难民。同时,他还写了50多万字的日记,详实记载了日本侵略军烧、杀、抢、掠、奸淫妇女的无耻暴行。日记保存在拉贝的德国家人手中,一直没有公开。1996年9月被美籍华人记者发现,成为日寇南京大屠杀的又一铁证。《拉贝日记》于1997年8月正式出版。
In December 1937, when the Japanese aggression army carried out the massacre in Nanjing, Mr. John Rabe, the German businessman who was working there, was elected Chairman of the “Committee on International Security of Nanjing”, risking his life and protecting More than 200,000 Chinese refugees. At the same time, he wrote a diary of more than 500,000 words, detailing the unscrupulous atrocities of the Japanese aggressors for burning, slaughtering, snatching, looting and adultery. The diary is kept in the hands of the German family of Rabe and has never been made public. In September 1996, he was discovered by a Chinese-American journalist as another ironclad card for the Japanese massacre in Nanjing. Rabe diary was officially published in August 1997.
