Professor Jack D.Joubert of the University of Lyon, France, combined the best features of conventional HVAC systems and unidirectional flow systems into a new system. It is called the Joubert system in France. This system should be in operation: energy is effectively used, quiet and guaranteed to quickly remove bacterial contamination, achieve self-purification efficiency of more than 99% in 30 minutes, and ensure that the bacterial contamination rate is as low as possible at the surgical site. To do this, he used a sampler (Joubert bacteria collector) to collect bacterial background data in the air (Figure 1). This sampler is similar to Andersen’s 6-stage screener, except that it has only 3 stages. The Anderson sampler collected 28.3 liters/minute air flow, and the Joubert bacteria collector collected 500 air flow.
